    • Notes: A new species of soft scale insect belonging to the genus Coccus Linnaeus (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Coccidae) is described and illustrated, based on mature females collected from Kerala, India: Coccus centurionum Das, Ravindranath, Pramanik & Das, sp. nov., infesting Mangifera indica L. (Anacardiaceae). The new species is morphologically close to Coccus hesperidum Linnaeus, Coccus oecophyllae Das, Pramanik & Das and Coccus almoraensis Avasthi & Shafee. It was found in association with a weaver ant species, Oecophylla smaragdinaCoccus species reported from India
