Tanaka, H., & Kamitani, S. 2026 A new species of the genus Paracoccus Ezzat & McConnell (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Pseudococcidae) from Japan. Zootaxa 5853 (3): 441–446

Notes: A new species of the genus Paracoccus Ezzat & McConnell, Paracoccus ezoensis Tanaka sp. nov., is described based on the morphology of adult females. The new species is similar to P. myrtacearum Williams & Granara de Willink, 1992, in having the dorsal oral rim tubular ducts widely distributed on the medial to submarginal areas and more analyses have indicated that Paracoccus is not a monophyletic group, so the current taxonomic definition of Paracoccus is probably arbitrary. Further molecular and morphological studies on the species currently placed in Paracoccus, including the one described in this study, are greatly needed to clarify their systematic positions.
