Remarks
- Systematics: Delottococcus denizi is unique within the genus due to the combination of three characters: the presence of a circulus, auxiliary setae in several anterior cerarii, and in lacking an anal-lobe bar. There is no similar species in the genus that possesses such features, although the presence of circulus has been recorded by Miller & Giliomee (2011) in specimens of D. aberiae, as a “small circulus” in some specimens collected from Zimbabwe and Mozambique. In the case of D. denizi, the presence of a circulus and its size are stable (always present, with a widthof 162–197 μm). (Kaydan, et al., 2026)
- Structure: Occurring on the upper surface of the leaves, with a thin cover of wax over the body; body contents cream-colored; with a series of 16–18 pairs of wax filaments around the body margins. (Kaydan, et al., 2026) Slide-mounted adult female body elongate oval to broadly oval, 1.8–2.0 mm long and 1.0–1.2 mm wide. Eyes located on margins, each about 32 μm wide, without associated discoidal pores. Antenna 8 segmented, 473–510 μm long; antennal segment lengths (in μm): segment I, 72–75; II, 70–77; III, 62–67; IV, 37–52; V, 40–52; VI, 35–45; VII, 42–52; VIII (apical segment), 97–105, with 4 fleshy setae about 35–40 μm long and an apical seta 38–50 μm long.
